Description
Charmingly written account of life in a barn by Niagara Falls, and the Edwardian 'dream house' that was never built. Not that Cruikshank minds, taking delight in the solitude and natural surroundings of her acre by the whirlpool and the (relatively) simple life to be lived there. Presented as a diary for 1904-05 with many an additional observation on topics of the day, current literature, and her life and husband's career. Stock toned, but bar one corner crease, all in good internal order. No inscriptions. Bindings lightly shaken but all holding well. Plate to front pastedown noting that this copy was included in the Sotheby's Chatsworth Attic Sale of October 2010. Edgewear to attractive green boards with black decoration and titling to upper board, and dulled gilt to faded spine. Scarce. 12mo. 254pp
