First printing (November 1945) of the first published work from author better know as the creator of Inspector George Gently. Wartime stock toned, but otherwise all in good internal order. Neat gift inscription and repeat of d/j illustration pasted to inside front cover. Former owner's bookplate to inside rear. Blue card covers a little dulled to edges and staples starting to rust. Unclipped d/j lightly marked and well worn to edges with some splitting and closed tears. 8vo. 55pp
