Description

ALS from Alfred Munnings laid in, in envelope. Book is a presentation copy to a member of the Bullard brewing family. Dated November 24 1950, the letter reads: "My dear Bullard, Here are the books signed and may they still be in the brewery a century hence. Yours sincerely Alfred Munnings. The old calendars are alright don't you think?" Three matters arising: As noted on the envelope "He sent this letter and forgot to sign the books"; Obviously it is not still in the brewery, which closed in 1968; The 'calendars' refer to advertising calendars for Bullards illustrated by Munnings, two designs for which appear in the book. Well illustrated. Spotting to edge of block and intermittent foxing, moreso early and late, but otherwise all in VG internal order. Tape residue to frontispiece verso where letter/envelope has been fixed. Red boards showing some shelfwear. Spine faded where d/j missing. Poor unclipped d/j, well worn and marked, with losses to spine.8vo. 328pp
