Description
Scarce first edition, two volumes, complete with all engravings and illustrations. While the majority of the contents is in crisp clean order there are some faults to note. Vol 1: fep and frontispiece loose with hinge opening a little; some staining to pages at top of gutter, less obvious as the book progresses, though affecting one or two of the plates. Vol 2 suffers similarly, but has no loose pages and is in general cleaner and brighter throughout. Ornate bookplates of Sir William Browne ffolkes to front pastedowns. Full green leather with ornate detailing, somewhat distressed. Titlepiece missing from spine of V2. All of this reflected in the price for a set which needs a little tlc. This is a charity sale on behalf of Friends of Morston Church (reg.1099831). 8vo. i) 527pp ii) 612pp.
