First printing of first edition, rather than the Book Club collaboration. Jacket and frontispiece by John Craxton. Spotting to block edge, occasionally intruding onto pages, but for the most part all in VG clean and bright internal order. Offset toning to endpapers. Former owner's signature neatly to ffep. Small bookseller's stamp to foot of rear fep noting book supplied by Thacker & Co of Bombay. Light wear only and a couple of minor bumps to smart red boards with gilt decoration to front and dulled gilt titling to spine. Good clipped d/j, toned and heavily foxed, but this more apparent on the inside than externally. Light wear only. Now in removable protective sleeve. 8vo. 320pp
