Description

Hard to find in this first UK edition, even more so with d/j, as here. Short stories of Basque life, based on Canfield's experiences living among the Basques during WW1. "Most of the tales are true, taken direct from village talk as it roamed here and there, from recent gossip to events of the seventeenth entry. They show a strong, vital, reserved, deeply rooted race, with a strikingly original outlook on life." Bar light toning to stock, a little moreso to endpapers, all is in VG, clean and bright internal order. No inscriptions. Yellow boards with red titling to spine lightly worn and rather marked, with spine dulled. Good clipped d/j showing some wear to surfaces and edges, dulling to spine and marking to rear. This is a charity sale for Friends Of Morston Church (reg.1099831). 12mo. 254pp
