Presented by the publishers to Purchase in September 1896, this noted with his signature to the title page verso. This influential guide "comprising the construction, setting-out, and working of stairs, circular work, arches, niches, domes, pendentives, vaults, tracery windows, etc etc" is exceptionally scarce in first edition and, of course, unique as a presentation copy. Stock lightly toned, but otherwise all in VG, clean and crisp internal order. Black endpapers bear the label of the Centre For Parish Church Studies, but there are no other markings or evidence of library use.
