The remainder is in very good order with half title, engraved frontispiece and three further engraved plates. Akenside's poem is preceded with an essay by Mrs Barbauld and the author's explanation of 'the design' of the poem, then the three books and sections of notes on each. Occasional foxing, but in general all in good internal order. Gift inscription from 1843 to fep verso. Advertisement for Mrs Barbauld's other works, in uniform size, to rear. Full leather contemporary binding with marbled endpapers and gilt decoration. Titlepiece missing from spine and some wear to edges and corners.
