Description
First thus, a second edition of Weldon's Court And Character Of King James (first published in 1650), here expanded with the addition of his commentary on the Court of King Charles. A little handwriting and ink marking tp first blank and frontispiece. Title and frontispiece rather dulled and marked, but thereafter things brighten with only occasional marking. Sporadic worm damage, but this not too obtrusive. Lacks pp 205-206 and 215-220. 4pp of dulled contents listing to rear. Bookplate to front pastedown, designed by George William Eve for William Henry Weldon (presumably a descendant of the author), Windsor Herald at the College of Arms. Most attractively rebound in dark calf, with four raised bands and original titlepiece relaid to spine. A pleasing volume despite faults and hard to find in this edition. 24mo. c.145x90mm. [6] 226pp [4]
