Description
If there was such a thing as book-selling school, one of the challenges they might set more senior pupils is how to flog a German language tide table collection from 1918 which looks as though it may have been briefly dipped in one of the tides it is forecasting. A-grade students would point out however, that along with the pages and pages of low and high water tables for ports all around the North Sea, are some good photos of maritime buildings, coloured signalling charts and perhaps, most interestingly, 12 three-colour maps (on two fold-out sheets) showing water flows around the UK. These are not badly affected by the dampness that has caused some cockling to earlier pages. Two later supplements, one bound in, complete the offer. Stamps of the Imperial Germany Navy to title page and also the Admiralty Library (Tidal Branch), suggesting this volume was acquired at the end of WW1. Boards are heavily worn to all edges, faded and marked. Anyway, back to our students. If they can get £10 for this, they will pass with flying colours. This is a charity sale for Friends Of Morston Church (reg.1099831). 4to.
