Description
Poet and former banker Wilkes penned this book of 'confessions' on retirement while wishing he could have written another book of poetry instead ("but nobody seems to like, or read, poetry these days, or to try to understand it. Not my type of poetry anyway".) So instead, and until he got around to publishing 'Breakfast in Bed' in 1961, we have this collection of tales of "the ups and down of banking life". Bar a little toning and some light vertical creases on a couple of pages, all is in VG internal order. Book is signed by Wilkes and dedicated 'Best Wishes' to first blank. Plum boards with gilt titling lightly worn only. G+ unclipped d/j and little toned and worn to edges. Scarce, even moreso with d/j and signed. 8vo. 106pp
