Description
Excellent illustrated survey of the great and good of two counties - and their properties, many photographed - produced by the remarkable entrepreneur John Grant, pioneer of this early form of vanity publishing. Published at £6 6s. and "only for subscribers" so likely to be a very limited print run - some estimate as low as 100 copies. No date, but this copy presented to the Peterborough Natural History, Scientific And Archaeological Society, on 31.12.1912 (as noted on attractive label to front pastedown). On the basis of that and references es to events in 1911 in the contents, likely to be a 1912 publication. Stock lightly toned, but in general VG order internally, printed on good heavy stock with numerous photo plates, generally tissue guarded. Embossed red cloth with gilt titling to front and spine. This a little worn to corners and edges and dulled to spine. A handsome and exceptionally scarce volume. This is a charity sale for Friends of Morston Church (reg.1099831). 4to. Unpaginated.
