Description
Fascinating and detailed account of the Royal Commission's inquiry into the workings, finances and behaviour of Hull Corporation, with much surprising testimony. A great deal of information on local life is included, with a statistical appendix to rear. Also included is the further inquiry which was set up as a result into Trinity House in Hull, its secretive operation and a missing/misappropriated sum of £23,000. All in good internal order with occasional marking/spotting, but for the most part clean and bright. "Oath of Undersherif" in manuscript bound to rear. Publisher's green silk watermarked cloth on rebacked boards, lightly worn to edges and rather marked. Paper title label to spine. Scarce. 8vo. 419pp
