Seventh edition of Catlin's remarkable treatise on the benefits of nasal breathing versus mouth breathing, using theories derived from his observations of American Indians. With 29 illustrations from his own hand. Artist Catlin is best known for his 'Indian Gallery' of paintings of tribespeople, but achieved considerable later recognition for his breathing theories. Despite numerous editions, early copies are now hard to find. This is foxed, occasionally heavily with binding a little shaken. A handwritten extract from the Daily News on December 31 1887 about Catlin is pasted to the title verso. Former owner's signature to fep.
