Description
The volume for 1843, published in 1840, in the long-running series of annual summaries and forecasts of astronomical events and planetary movements, sunrises and sunsets, tides, etc etc. Numerous tables, fold-out charts as required, and a section to the rear on scientific developments, largely occupied by an article by Le Verrier on orbital variations of the principal planets. The words 'Observatory Edinburgh' in neat contemporary hand to title page, and, bar very occasional spotting and a little light toning, in clean, crisp and bright order throughout. Nicely bound, with red flecking to all edges of block, half leather with five raised bands to spine and marbled paper-covered boards. Some wear to leather and a little marking to spine, but in general a handsome, tightly bound volume. French language. 8vo. [4], 508pp + index.
