Description

Scarce three volume set of reports concerning the Volta River Project, published by HMSO on behalf of the UK and Gold Coast (now Ghana) governments. Well produced, with numerous maps, charts and plans. Vol I: Report Of The Preparatory Commission, 135pp + photos and large fold-out map to rear. Vol II: Appendices To The Report Of The Preparatory Commission, a highly detailed study of the forecast effects of the project on all aspects of Gold Coast life, vii+ 475pp. Vol III: Engineering Report To The Preparatory Commission, a detailed look at all aspects of the dam construction and required infrastructure across the country, xv, 123pp + numerous plates and plans. Each volume has the small neat stamp of the Colonial Office Library to the title page and a number written to the fep, but there are no other indications of library use. Uniformly bound in handsome blue cloth with bright gilt tilting to spine. Complete with 3 x unclipped d/js, in general VG order, showing light wear and light toning only. Vols I and II have a publisher's review slip fixed to front of jacket, removed from Vol III. Folio, weighing in at c.6kg for the set, so please enquire re overseas postage.
