Description
A complete run of issues of Das Plakat for 1921 celebrating poster and wider advertising and graphic design, beginning with the spectacular 'Munich issue' of January 1921. February is a logo design issue, while March is a dance and music special. April focuses on the work of Lucien Zabel, again with excellent colour plates. May's theme is the graphics of officialdom, but a rather jollier feature to the rear showcases the work of Jules Cheret on his 85th birthday. June is a general art and advertising issue, while July/August is a 'Hamburg' double issue. September's theme is Dutch poster art, while October is a slightly more sombre issue, though still with numerous colour illustrations, devoted to religious graphics. The November/December double issue focuses on 'Familiengraphik', principally bookplates, greetings cards and other domestic graphics. In all, a year's worth of Das Plakat at the height of its powers. All is in generally VG internal order, with just occasional marks, creases etc, but these rare. There is some toning to variable quality stock, but the numerous colour plates and tipped in examples of printing and design excellence invariably show well. Covers show some wear, toning, and marking, but nothing too distressing. 4to, 668pp + plates and advertisements.
