Description
First UK edition of this remarkable autobiographical narrative of the author's life through three periods in Africa, 1901-09, 1917-20 and 1932-35. "And it has a moral, a burning message to the civilized world at large that the white man is treating the black man in Africa very badly, and ought not only to be ashamed of himself but to learn some important lessons in the Christian virtues from the victims of his greed." (New York Times, 1938). Excellently illustrated with photos. A couple of minor marks to edge of block but internally all is in crisp clear and bright order bar some spotting to endpapers, Brown cloth rather faded and a little worn to edges with dulled gilt titling to spine and some marking to rear. VG- then, but still a most interesting read. 8vo. 320pp
