Description
Exceptionally scarce and somewhat bizarre novel, ostensibly set in the London suburb and described by Hackney History magazine as a " narrative concerning deposed royalty from the Baltic region, secreted in the precinct of a mysterious factory" featuring "a syndicate devoted to placing nominees on vacant European thrones, and some energetic goat-worship". Standard fare for this part of North London then. Spotting early and late, otherwise all in clean and bright order. Some pages have been opened roughly with resulting tears/ loss, but this doesn't affect text. Some pages remain unopened. Plate to front pastedown notes that this copy was included in the Sotheby's Chatsworth 'Attic Sale' of October 2010. Decorated tan boards worn to edges and rubbed to front panel, less so to spine, with bright gilt titling. 12mo. 320pp
