Description

Novel by the highly regarded Whipple, largely forgotten until her 2000s' revival by Persephone Books. This is the first printing, with minor spotting to block edge, but this not intruding onto lightly toned pages. Thus all in good internal order, with plate to front pastedown noting that this copy was included in the Sotheby's Chatsworth Attic Sale of October 2010. Rated fair rather than good because green boards rather worn, marked and faded to spine. Just to compound matters Lord Hartington has signed the upper board in pencil. Really your Lordship, how could you? 12mo. 374pp + publisher's ads.
