Description
From schooldays to the battlefields of Gallipoli, this hugely popular novel struck a chord in the immediate aftermath of WWI, running to many editions. This is the third printing of the first edition (both February 1922). This copy is quite heavily foxed and best regarded as a reading copy. Green cloth a little bumped, and well worn to edges, esp at spine where cloth is partially split. Inscribed in Greek by Francis Thompson, Keeper of the Devonshire Collections at Chatsworth from 1921-1953, with a plate to front pastedown noting that this copy is from the Sotheby's Chatsworth Attic Sale of October 2010. 12mo. 320pp
