Description
Complete two volume set of first edition of this important collection of letters and papers of state written by Queen Elizabeth, her Ministers and "foreign Princes and Ministers with whom she had Negotiations", published for the first time from the original manuscripts in the Cottonian Library "and other public and private Repositories at home and abroad". Presentation enhanced by the numerous facsimile signatures in text. Light spotting throughout, and some minor worm damage early in vol.II, but otherwise all in VG internal order. Roughcut, and thus untrimmed, pages measure c.13" x 9". Simply but attractively rebound in grey paper-covered boards with oatmeal cloth to spine. Gilt on black leather titlepieces. Large folio. Vol.I: [4] xii, 507pp + 18pp index and errata. Vol.II; [8], 500pp + 20pp index and errata
