Description
Pencil inscription to fep notes: "Presented to the Duchess of Devonshire by the Author", a possibility supported by a plate to front pastedown noting that it was included in the Chatsworth House Attic Sale of 2010. A most unusual book - being a review of "feeble-minded" and "mentally defective" characters from English literature and drawing the conclusion that a world gradually becoming more civilized and democratic should take better care of their real life counterparts. One of two spots to lightly toned text, but for the most part all is in VG clean and bright internal order. Light wear only to smart dark blue cloth with gilt titling to spine. 12mo. [12] 178pp
