Description
Fascinating and scarce account of the 1923 tour of First World War battlefields by 1,000 cadets at a time, as noted in the introduction, when post-war pacifism, was on the rise in the UK and Anglo-French relations were becoming fractious. The tour, apparently, did much to bolster the cadet movement as well as the entente cordiale. Text makes affecting reading with first hand accounts of what was discovered so soon after the end of hostilities and is well illustrated throughout with photographs. Text has light but persistent foxing throughout though photo plates are generally unaffected and are clean and bright. Small closed tear to edge of frontispiece photo. Brown card covers a little worn and dulled. 8vo. 82pp + plates
