Description
ND. c.1929. Remarkable brochure championing the newly developed (or developing) Stenode Radiostat broadcasting system. The system, invented by Prof James Robinson, was about to revolutionise radio communication, it maintains, by greatly reducing the bandwidth needed. Much enthusiasm followed in the UK and the USA before the system was effectively abandoned n the mid-1930s. The brochure presents The British Radiostat Corporation, incorporated in Canada but operating from offices and workshops in London, as an attractive investment prospect, and details the system and its applications, as well as providing a timeline of Robinson's career to date. Presumably produced in very small numbers for potential investors, as the illustrations included are real photographic prints, tipped on to caption-printed pages. They include portraits pf Robinson and Adrian Simpson (London General Manager), and four photographs of the system in use. All in VG+, clean and bright internal order, with just a little cockling to pages where photos affixed. Textured grey covers dulled to edges and lightly worn, with grey silk tie to spine. Oblong 4to.
